Vallourec, a global leader in premium tubular solutions, and H2V, a subsidiary of the SAMFI-Invest group, have announced a strategic partnership at the Hyvolution trade show. This collaboration aims to foster closer cooperation between the two entities, leveraging their respective technical expertise, market knowledge, and development capabilities for future projects. Specifically, the partnership explores potential synergies such as integrating Vallourec’s Delphy storage solution with H2V’s green hydrogen production and utilization projects in Marseille Fos. H2V has been at the forefront of mass-producing green hydrogen since 2016.
The agreement builds on Vallourec’s recent foray into the hydrogen storage market with the launch of Delphy, a large-scale vertical solution designed to store up to 100 tonnes of gaseous hydrogen underground, ensuring maximum safety conditions. Delphy targets green hydrogen producers and users for industrial applications and heavy mobility, offering cost efficiencies and high supply safety levels. Vallourec’s entry into the hydrogen value chain through Delphy reinforces its commitment to global carbon reduction efforts.
In the past two years, Vallourec has been developing Vallourecยฎ New Energies, a portfolio of solutions supporting energy transition, spanning geothermal, hydrogen storage, carbon sequestration, solar, and biomass markets.
H2V, with an estimated workforce of over 50 by 2026, boasts a commercial portfolio of projects poised to scale up to 1.8 GW of capacity by 2030 and exceed 3 GW by 2040, primarily in France, Belgium, and the United Kingdom.
Philippe Guillemot, Chairman of the Board of Directors and CEO of Vallourec, expressed enthusiasm about expanding collaboration with H2V in the burgeoning green hydrogen sector. He emphasized Vallourec’s commitment to leveraging its expertise to drive advancements in the hydrogen industry and transition to a low-carbon economy.
Alexis Martinez, Managing Director of H2V, hailed the partnership as a significant step toward carbon reduction in the Marseille Fos industrial port basin. He highlighted the potential of the agreement to address electricity supply constraints, with Delphy enabling a more flexible hydrogen supply system.
The partnership between Vallourec and H2V underscores a shared commitment to innovation and sustainability, paving the way for impactful contributions to the global energy transition.
