SOLARCYCLE®, a cutting-edge solar recycling company leveraging advanced technology, has announced a groundbreaking partnership with Georgia Governor Brian P. Kemp to establish a solar glass manufacturing facility in Cedartown, Polk County. This initiative, representing an investment of approximately $344 million, is poised to create over 600 new full-time jobs and revolutionize the renewable energy landscape.

The facility, slated to be the first of its kind in the country, will utilize recycled materials from retired solar panels to produce new solar glass. Governed by a 10-year partnership with Neoen, a renowned renewable energy producer, SOLARCYCLE’s state-of-the-art manufacturing plant will play a pivotal role in advancing sustainable energy solutions in the region.

Currently operating facilities in Odessa, Texas, and Mesa, Arizona, SOLARCYCLE has established long-term partnerships with over forty leading solar energy companies, including Georgia-based Qcells, to recycle and reuse solar panels. With their proprietary recycling technology boasting a 95% extraction rate of value from used solar panels, SOLARCYCLE is committed to driving the circular economy and promoting sustainability.

The new facility in Georgia marks a significant milestone for SOLARCYCLE, positioning the company as a pioneer in specialized solar glass manufacturing for crystalline-silicon (c-Si) photovoltaics in the United States. With an annual production capacity of five to six gigawatts, the solar glass manufactured here will directly supply domestic solar manufacturers, addressing critical gaps in the country’s supply chain and supporting the expansion of solar panel production in America.

Suvi Sharma, CEO and Co-Founder of SOLARCYCLE, expressed enthusiasm for the project, emphasizing its role in fostering job creation and advancing clean energy solutions. The company’s commitment to collaboration with the State of Georgia and the City of Cedartown underscores its dedication to sustainable growth and innovation in the renewable energy sector.

Construction of the manufacturing facility, situated at Cedartown North Business Park, a Georgia Ready for Accelerated Development (GRAD) certified site, is slated to commence in 2024, with operations set to begin in 2026. The project will create job opportunities across various sectors, including manufacturing, engineering, management, research and design, and support staff.
