NTPC Advances Green Energy Goals With New Hydrogen Hub In Andhra Pradesh

NTPC Limited has taken a significant step towards achieving its green energy ambitions and supporting the Government of India’s energy transition efforts. On 20th February 2024, NTPC Green Energy Limited (NGEL), a subsidiary of NTPC, entered into a Land Lease Agreement with the Andhra Pradesh Industrial Infrastructure Corporation (APIIC) for the establishment of an Integrated Green Hydrogen Hub. This cutting-edge project will be developed over 1,200 acres near Pudimadaka village in Visakhapatnam’s Atchutapuram Mandal.

SECI Announces Major Tender for 900 MWp of Domestically Manufactured Solar Modules

The Solar Energy Corporation of India Limited (SECI) has announced a major tender for the procurement of 900 MWp of domestically manufactured solar PV modules, which must also utilize domestically produced solar cells. This initiative is part of SECI’s ongoing efforts to support and enhance India’s solar energy infrastructure and domestic manufacturing capabilities within the renewable energy sector. The deadline for both soft and hard copy bid submissions is set for Tuesday, March 12, 2024, with the bid opening also scheduled for the same day.

India Boosts Ladakh’s Renewable Energy Transmission With Green Corridor Phase-II

The Indian government has sanctioned the implementation of the “Green Energy Corridor Phase-II” project, aimed at establishing an Inter-state Transmission System (ISTS) to support a 13 GW renewable energy project in Ladakh. Approved by the Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs (CCEA) on October 18, 2023, the project aims to enhance the transmission infrastructure necessary for evacuating power generated from renewable sources in Ladakh. The ISTS GEC-II project entails the construction of approximately 713 km of transmission lines, covering 1,268 circuit kilometers (ckm), and the installation of two 5 GW High Voltage Direct Current (HVDC) terminals in Ladakh (Pang) and Kaital (Haryana).

SJVN Limited’s 1500 MW Wind-Solar Hybrid Auction Commands Competitive L1 Tariff Of ₹3.43/kWh

SJVN Limited recently concluded a reverse auction for a 1500 MW wind-solar hybrid project on February 20, 2024, establishing an opening L1 tariff of INR 3.43 per kWh. Juniper Green Energy Private Limited secured 150 MW, with Datta Power Infra Private Limited and others following at slightly higher tariffs. Avaada Energy Private Limited clinched 530 MW at INR 3.49 per kWh. The auction highlights the competitiveness of wind-solar hybrid technologies in India, aiding the nation’s renewable energy goals. Successful bidders will contribute significantly to India’s cleaner energy future.

Ministry Of Power Urges States To Align With Green Energy Open Access Regulations

The Ministry of Power has issued a directive to all States and Union Territories, emphasizing the alignment with the Open Access Regulations on an aggregation basis. This directive comes in light of the Electricity (Promoting Renewable Energy Through Green Energy Open Access) (Second Amendment) Rules, 2023, as notified by the Ministry. The amendment, dated 23rd May 2023, brings significant changes to the existing regulations. Notably, it defines an “entity” as any consumer with a contracted demand or sanctioned load of at least 100 kW, either through a single connection or multiple connections aggregating 100 kW or more within the same electricity division of a distribution licensee, excluding captive consumers. However, for captive consumers, there is no load limitation.

PM Inaugurates NHPC’s ₹1732 Crore, 300 MW Solar Power Plant In Bikaner, Rajasthan

In a significant stride towards India’s renewable energy targets and the aim for achieving Net Zero by 2070, Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi inaugurated the construction of a 300 MW Solar Power Plant in Karnisar-Bhatiyan village, Poogal Tehsil, Bikaner, Rajasthan, via video conferencing on February 16, 2024. The project, spearheaded by NHPC Limited under the Government of India’s CPSU Scheme Phase-II Tranche-III, boasts an investment exceeding ₹1,732 crores.
