Norwegian renewable energy company Scatec ASA has entered into a collaboration agreement with Egyptalum, a subsidiary of Misr Aluminium Company, to establish a 1 GW solar power plant, as per a statement from the Egyptian cabinet on February 20, 2024.
The solar facility, serving as the primary energy source for Egyptalum’s aluminum complex in Nag Hammadi, will have a total capacity of 1,000 MW, developed in two phases of 500 MW each.
The agreement was signed during the Egypt Energy Show EGYPES 2024, witnessed by Minister of Public Sector Enterprise Mahmoud Esmat and Norway’s Ambassador to Egypt Hilde Klemetsdal.
