In a significant boost to India’s renewable energy sector, SJVN Limited has announced the commissioning of its 100 MW Raghanesda Solar Power Station in Banaskatha district, Gujarat. This strategic move not only reinforces SJVN’s commitment to sustainable energy but also marks a significant milestone in its expansion, bringing its total installed capacity to 2,377 MW.

The newly commissioned solar power station is expected to produce 252 million units of energy in its inaugural year, with a projected total of 5,805 million units over the next 25 years. This energy output will be directed to Gujarat Urja Vikas Nigam Limited (GUVNL) under a 25-year Power Purchase Agreement, which was signed in January 2022.

This project is SJVN’s second solar venture to come online this month, following the 50 MW Gujrai Solar Power Station in Uttar Pradesh. With a construction and development cost of Rs. 642 crores, the Raghanesda project was secured by SJVN Green Energy Limited, the renewable energy wing of SJVN, at a competitive tariff of Rs. 2.64 per unit through Tariff Based Competitive Bidding conducted by GUVNL.
