HE Saeed Al Tayer Emphasises DEWA’s Support Of National Efforts To Consolidate Women’s Participation In Climate Action And Energy Transition

In a meeting with the DEWA Women’s Committee on International Women’s Day 2024, HE Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, the MD & CEO of Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA), reiterated the organization’s commitment to realizing the vision of the UAE’s leadership by actively involving women in climate action and the energy transition.

Al Tayer praised the UAE’s remarkable achievements in empowering women and emphasized their integral role in achieving comprehensive sustainable development and increasing the share of clean and renewable energy. He highlighted the country’s model of inclusive development, involving all segments of society, especially women and youth, in driving the progress of the vital energy sector.

Reflecting on the UAE’s leadership model, Al Tayer stated, “This approach aims to elevate women’s unlimited capabilities and expand their contributions to drive the development and prosperity of the UAE and achieve more accomplishments and gains.”

DEWA, a key player in the energy sector, stands out as one of the largest government organizations employing women in technical positions in Dubai. Al Tayer shared, “There are 1,939 female employees in DEWA, including 1,914 in administrative and middle-management positions, and many in leadership positions.”

He also commended the DEWA Women’s Committee for creating an environment that supports female employees, ensuring a balance between their professional and social lives. The committee plays a crucial role in maintaining DEWA’s position as one of the world’s best utilities.

In celebration of International Women’s Day, the DEWA Women’s Committee organized a virtual competition for female employees. The competition, themed “Invest in Women: Accelerate Progress,” aimed to highlight DEWA’s support and empowerment of women, recognizing their pioneering and inspiring contributions.
