In commemoration of the 77th Independence Day, the Irrawaddy Region witnessed a series of auspicious events aimed at fostering rural development and enhancing community livelihoods. The festivities commenced with the inauguration of the small-scale solar power system lighting project in Mygho Gone-Talyt-Wha Dhang Su Village, Kyai Lat Township.
Led by Union Minister U Hla Moe of the Ministry of Cooperatives and Rural Development, the opening ceremony marked a significant step towards providing sustainable electricity to rural communities. Emphasizing the government’s commitment to bridging the urban-rural development gap, Minister U Hla Moe underscored the importance of renewable energy in improving living standards and supporting education, health, and small-scale industries.
The ceremony, attended by Prime Minister U Tin Maung Win of the Irrawaddy Regional Government and regional officials, highlighted the collaborative effort between the government and ZLT Super Electrical Company in implementing the solar power system. Local residents pledged to maintain the lighting system sustainably, ensuring its longevity and effectiveness in meeting the community’s needs.
Following the successful inauguration, attention turned to infrastructure development with the opening ceremony of the village Chinsek Bridge on Chinsek Road in Phayap Township and the Gwai Chaok Gyi Bridge in Kyai Lat Township. These vital bridges, inaugurated by Union Minister U Hla Moe and regional leaders, signify the government’s commitment to enhancing rural connectivity and facilitating transportation of agricultural produce throughout the year.
Speaking at the ceremonies, Minister U Hla Moe emphasized the pivotal role of good rural transportation in supporting comprehensive development and poverty reduction. The newly inaugurated bridges are integral to advancing socio-economic growth and narrowing the development gap between urban and rural areas. Local residents were urged to actively participate in maintaining the bridges and adhering to weight regulations to ensure their sustainability.
