Business leaders and energy professionals gathered at Hilton Windhoek for strategic discussions, industry recognition and networking.
The Solar & Storage Leadership Forum 2026: Namibia successfully concluded on 30 October 2026 at Hilton Windhoek, bringing together industry professionals to explore priorities for the country’s solar and energy storage sector. Organised by FirstVIEW and powered by SolarQuarter and Energy Storage Pro, the Business Leaders Meet provided a focused setting for exchanging perspectives on energy security, project development and investment.
The programme featured a keynote address by Simon Jason, Chairperson, Erongo Region, Namibia Chamber of Commerce and Industry (NCCI), and a presentation by Bright Sun, General Manager, Africa, LONGi Solar. Two Executive Leaders Dialogues formed the centre of the event, connecting discussions on industry growth with the practical requirements for financing and scaling projects.
Strategic Priorities for Namibia’s Solar and Storage Growth
The first dialogue, “Namibia’s Solar & Energy Storage Future: Strategic Priorities for Growth,” explored opportunities across utility-scale solar, battery energy storage, distributed generation and commercial and industrial projects.
Key themes included strengthening energy security, reducing reliance on imported electricity and integrating renewable generation while maintaining grid stability. The discussion also examined storage applications beyond backup power, including peak management and grid balancing, alongside the importance of local participation and project development capabilities.
Moderated by Helvi Ileka, Centre Head: Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency, Namibia Energy Institute, NUST, the session featured:
- Ndakolute S. Abraham — Deputy Director, Technical Vocational Education and Training, Ministry of Education, Innovation, Youth, Sports, Arts and Culture.
- Johan Bekker — Director, Africa Power & Light.
- Harald Schütt — Country Manager, GreenGo Energy Group.

- Valentine-Gratia Shaanika — Energy Compliance Officer, Millennium Investment Group (Namibia).
Connecting Investment with Project Delivery
The second dialogue, “Powering Namibia’s Solar & Storage Future: Investment, Scale & Opportunity,” focused on the conditions needed to move projects towards bankability and financial close.
The conversation covered risk allocation, power purchase agreements, storage revenue models and opportunities across commercial and industrial solar, mining and corporate energy procurement. It also considered how development finance, guarantees and blended finance could help address project risks and attract investment.
Moderated by Jackson Nangolo, Energy Specialist, Namibia Investment Promotion and Development Board (NIPDB), the session brought together:
- Simon Jason — Chairperson, Erongo Region, Namibia Chamber of Commerce and Industry (NCCI).
- Edith Nghitukwa — Group Financial Manager, Alpha Namibia Industries Renewable Energy Power Limited (ANIREP).
- Sofia Shiimi — Techno Economist, Namdeb.
