In a significant boost to India’s renewable energy infrastructure, Tata Power Solar Systems Limited (TPSSL), a leading integrated solar company and subsidiary of Tata Power Renewable Energy Limited, has successfully commissioned the nation’s largest Solar and Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS) in Rajnandgaon, Chhattisgarh. This groundbreaking project includes a 100 MW Solar PV installation coupled with a 120 MWh utility-scale BESS, marking a pivotal advancement in green energy solutions.

Awarded by the Solar Energy Corporation of India Ltd. (SECI) in December 2021 for โ‚น945 crore, TPSSL undertook this project on an EPC (Engineering, Procurement, and Construction) basis, encompassing all aspects from design and supply to commissioning. Despite challenges like difficult soil conditions and a remote location, the TPSSL team’s expertise ensured timely completion. The project utilized advanced Bifacial Mono Crystalline technology across 239,685 modules, demonstrating cutting-edge engineering and execution skills.

Deepesh Nanda, CEO and Managing Director of Tata Power Renewable Energy Limited, highlighted the project’s significance in promoting 24/7 green energy availability and contributing to the renewable energy transition with innovative approaches. Expected to generate approximately 243.53 million units of energy annually, the project will significantly reduce carbon emissions by 4.87 million tonnes over 25 years, aligning with India’s renewable energy ambitions.
