In a strategic move towards bolstering renewable energy initiatives, Aboitiz Solar Power, Inc., a subsidiary of Aboitiz Power Corporation, has enlisted the expertise of AFRY to serve as the owner’s engineer for the construction of a substantial 172 MWp solar photovoltaic (PV) plant. Positioned in Negros Occidental, Philippines, the project aims to contribute clean energy to the Visayas grid.

This venture marks a significant stride for AboitizPower, a prominent player in the Philippine energy landscape. The Calatrava project, situated within a sprawling expanse of approximately 143 hectares characterized by gentle undulations, will feature a fixed ground-mounted solar installation. Notably, it is slated to be interconnected via 230kV voltage to the Calatrava substation.

AFRY, a renowned name in power sector engineering consulting, assumes a pivotal role in this endeavor. Their responsibilities encompass project management assistance, design review, and supportive services during both construction and commissioning phases of the solar power plant, alongside facilitating interconnection up to the Calatrava substation. With ambitions to export electricity to the grid by the close of 2024, the project embodies a concerted push towards sustainable energy.
