The Grid Corporation of Odisha (GRIDCO) is seeking proposals for the acquisition of 500 MW (equivalent to 2,500 MWh) of energy storage capacity, providing 5 hours of peak power support daily, over a five-year term commencing April 1, 2026.
The energy storage system (ESS), adaptable to various technologies, should interface with either the central or state transmission network.
Bid submissions are due by April 23, 2024. Bids must range from a minimum of 250 MWh (50 MW x 5 hours) to a maximum of 1,250 MWh (250 MW x 5 hours).
To participate, bidders must submit an earnest money deposit of ₹200,000 per MW. To sign the energy storage purchase agreement (ESPA), successful bidders must provide a performance bank guarantee of ₹10 lakh per MW of assigned capacity.
Bidders’ financial solvency should exceed, or equal ₹1 crore/MW of the quoted capacity averaged over the past three financial years, with annual audited accounts for the latest financial year as part of the submission.
Only established, functioning ESS technology will be considered. Projects must guarantee a minimum monthly availability of 95% during the peak five-hour period and complete at least one charge-discharge cycle daily, with a maximum recovery time of 1 hour between cycles.
Bidders from countries sharing a land border with India must adhere to government guidelines and be registered with the competent authority. GRIDCO retains the right to accept or reject any bids without explanation.
