Energea Expands Solarize South Africa Portfolio with Three New Projects

The new projects aim to address South Africa’s challenges of a highly polluting and unreliable energy grid. Solarize South Africa, backed by over 2,000 investors, has achieved a remarkable 10% Internal Rate of Return (IRR) since its inception in July 2021. These projects, accessible to U.S. investors through Energea’s platform and regulated by the SEC, contribute to the country’s clean energy transition while providing investment opportunities.

Project Details:

  1. CPOA Constantia Place: This project involves a 144 kW (DC) rooftop solar installation at Southern Cross Drive, Constantia, Cape Town. It will be connected “behind the meter” at the CPOA Constantia Place facility, reducing carbon emissions by an estimated 2.86K tons over its 20-year lifetime.
  2. Laerskool Havinga: Located at 29 General Pienaar Ave, Witpoortje, Laerskool Havinga features a 100 kW (DC) rooftop solar installation with battery backup. This setup ensures uninterrupted power supply to the school during the country’s frequent grid shutdowns.
  3. Bosmansdam High School: Bosmansdam High School in Cape Town hosts a 77.76 kW (DC) rooftop solar installation with battery backup. This project contributes to the school’s commitment to managing expenses while embracing clean energy solutions.
