In a significant move aimed at streamlining its construction activities across Southern Europe, renewable energy company Sonnedix has inked its first Engineering Procurement Construction (EPC) Framework Agreement with Eiffage Energia Sistemas, a renowned EPC contractor operating under the Eiffage brand in Spain.

The Framework Agreement, spanning Spain, Italy, and Portugal, standardizes general terms and conditions for construction activities across Sonnedix’s project pipeline in these markets. With 858MW of renewable energy projects currently under construction and a further development pipeline of 1.72GW, the agreement is poised to enhance operational efficiency for Sonnedix.

Jorge Amiano, Sonnedixโ€™s Global Head of Engineering & Construction, emphasized the Agreement’s role in expediting project construction. By eliminating the need for standalone EPC Agreements, which typically take two to three months to finalize, Sonnedix anticipates quicker project execution.

Sonnedixโ€™s CEO, Axel Thiemann, hailed the initiative as innovative, positioning Sonnedix to efficiently capitalize on its extensive project pipeline. Thiemann highlighted Eiffage’s strong track record in key markets as instrumental to the partnership’s success.

Echoing Thiemann’s sentiments, Jose Manuel Martinez, CEO of Eiffage Energia Sistemas, underscored the significance of the Agreement in solidifying Eiffage’s position as a key player in the global EPC landscape and the Spanish renewables sector.

Daniel Garrido, Director of Eiffage Energia Sistemasโ€™ International and Renewable Department, emphasized the collaborative effort between the two companies and their shared commitment to the energy transition. Garrido noted Eiffage Energia Sistemas’ experience and technical prowess as pivotal in the successful construction of a 300MW portfolio with Sonnedix in Spain.

The Agreement marks a milestone in Sonnedix’s efforts to expedite project execution and underscores the commitment of both parties to advancing the renewable energy agenda in Southern Europe.
