In a move towards bolstering its renewable energy infrastructure, Malaysia has initiated a competitive bidding program for the development of large-scale solar photovoltaic (PV) power plants in Peninsular Malaysia.
The program, overseen by Suruhanjaya Tenaga (Energy Commission), aims to accelerate the adoption of solar energy and reduce the country’s dependency on traditional power sources. Companies interested in participating in the bidding process are required to follow specific procedures for purchasing Request for Proposal (RFP) documents.
Here’s a breakdown of the procedure for purchasing RFP documents:
- Payment Period: Payment must be made between April 1, 2024, at 9:00 am, and April 16, 2024, at 5:00 pm. Payments made outside this period will not be accepted.
- Online Payment: Suruhanjaya Tenaga (ST) only accepts online payments (online transfer) of RM3,000.00 for each RFP document purchase. The payment should be made to the CIMB Bank Berhad account under the name of Suruhanjaya Tenaga.
- Submission of Documents: After payment, companies must submit proof of payment transaction, along with completed Buyer Information Form for RFP Documents and Payment Information Form for Purchasing RFP Documents, to email lss5@st.gov.my. It’s crucial to ensure that all required information is accurately filled out.
- Receipt and Document Access: Upon verification of payment, ST will provide purchase receipts, links, and passwords to download the RFP documents via email within 1 to 3 working days. Incomplete submissions will result in rejection of the application.
- Inquiries: Any inquiries regarding the RFP program can be directed to lss5@st.gov.my during working hours (Monday to Friday, 9:00 am to 5:00 pm).
The initiative aims to attract potential bidders and facilitate their participation in the bidding process. By streamlining the procurement process, Malaysia seeks to expedite the development of large-scale solar power projects, contributing to its renewable energy targets and fostering sustainable growth.
Companies interested in partaking in Malaysia’s renewable energy expansion are encouraged to adhere to the outlined procedures and seize the opportunity to contribute to the nation’s clean energy transition.
