Oman OETC Celebrates OMR322 Million Transmission Projects In Dhofar Governorate

Oman Electricity Transmission Company (OETC) celebrated the signing of the agreement for the ‘strategic project (Rabt, Phase 2) and expansion projects in the electricity transmission sector in Dhofar Governorate, totalling OMR322 million. The event took place at the Oman Convention and Exhibition Centre (OCEC), under the presence of Dr. Mansour bin Talib Al Hinai, the Authority for Public Services Regulation’s Chairman.

During the ceremony, agreements were signed with Larsen and Toubro, Oman National Engineering and Investment Company (ONEIC), Zawawi Powertech Engineering, and Bahwan Engineering.

The Rabt, Phase 2 project, valued at OMR257 million, involves establishing three power stations with a capacity of 400 kilovolts and overhead power lines spanning over 590 kilometres. Its primary objective is to connect the main transmission network with the Dhofar electricity network by installing transmission lines between the Duqm industrial station (400/ 132 KV) and the Dhofar power station (400/ 132 KV) in the Wilayat of Salalah. Additionally, the Shaleem Electricity Transmission Station will be constructed as part of this initiative.

Furthermore, the project encompasses the installation of electricity transmission lines (400 KV) to two wind power stations at Ras Madraka (300 megawatts) and the Harweel area (200 megawatts), along with connection of the Thamrait station (400/ 132 KV). The project is expected to reach completion by the year 2027.

The OMR65 million electricity transmission network projects in Dhofar Governorate entail the installation of electricity transmission lines (132 KV) spanning 269 kilometres to connect the Wilayat of Al Mazyoona with the Niyabat of Shahb Asaib. Additionally, three electricity transmission stations (132 KV) will be established. This project is expected to be finalized by 2025.
