Southern Railway’s Thiruvananthapuram Division Embarks on Rooftop Solar Project for Sustainable Energy Supply

Thiruvananthapuram Division of Southern Railway is set to embark on a sustainable energy initiative with the implementation of rooftop solar PV systems across various locations. In a bid to harness renewable energy, the Division has issued a call for e-tenders, inviting bids for Tender No VEG-OT-36-2023-24, with a closing date of May 20, 2024, at 15:00 Hrs.

The project aims to generate and supply energy to railway installations through the RESCO (Renewable Energy Service Company) mode. With an advertised value of Rs. 38,415,520.00, the tendering section SRDEEGTVC has stipulated a single rate for each schedule item.

The schedule outlines the supply of electricity to railways through rooftop solar PV systems over a period of 25 years. The tariff rate, excluding taxes and levies, is fixed for the duration, ensuring sustained energy supply to the railways. Joint venture (JV) firms are permitted to bid, with bids ranked from lowest to highest expenditure under the revenue category.

The tender underscores Southern Railway’s commitment to embracing sustainable energy solutions and reducing its carbon footprint. By leveraging rooftop solar PV systems, the Division aims to contribute to India’s renewable energy goals while ensuring reliable power supply to railway installations.
