State Minister Nasrul Hamid met with Singapore’s non-resident High Commissioner to Bangladesh, Derek Loh, at the Secretariat to discuss bilateral interests.

Minister Hamid expressed Bangladesh’s substantial investment potential in the power and energy sector, emphasizing the country’s technological advancements and increasing automation trends, which foster investment opportunities, estimating a need of $50-60 billion in the technology sector over the next five years.

High Commissioner Loh showed keen interest in renewable energy prospects in Bangladesh and highlighted Singapore’s modern technological advancements.

The discussion delved into various energy topics including nuclear, wind, and solar power, emphasizing clean energy initiatives and addressing concerns such as solar power pricing, smart grid implementation, and electricity import/export dynamics.

The meeting also saw the participation of Sheela Pillai, Charge d’Affaires at the Singapore High Commission in Dhaka, among others, marking an important step towards collaborative efforts in advancing energy and technological cooperation between the two nations.
