President Andry RAJOELINA of the Republic of Madagascar concluded a series of inaugurations in the Anosy Region, focusing on vital sectors impacting the daily lives of citizens: health, local economic development, and energy.
During his address, President Andry RAJOELINA urged parents to prioritize the vaccination of their children against childhood diseases, emphasizing the importance of protection, particularly against poliomyelitis. Additionally, he announced the distribution of “Hazavana ho anao” solar kits to households in Ranopiso, aiming to improve access to electricity in the municipality.
Highlighting the government’s commitment to energy transition, President Andry RAJOELINA inaugurated the Ehoala solar power plant. This plant, a collaboration between the State, JIRAMA, and the QMM company, currently boasts an 8MW production capacity, with plans for an additional 6MW extension underway. The solar power plant will ensure a reliable and sustainable electricity supply in Toalagnaro.
Furthermore, the installation of Madagascar’s first wind farm, with a capacity of 16 MW, is in progress at Ehoala and is expected to be operational by early 2025. These developments aim to achieve energy self-sufficiency for Toalagnaro, with a total production capacity of nearly 30MW. President Andry RAJOELINA emphasized that these initiatives would result in reduced electricity prices for the population.
President Andry RAJOELINA commended such initiatives for their contribution to reducing subsidies allocated to JIRAMA and electricity costs. He called upon the private sector to follow the example set by the QMM company and invest more in the country’s energy development, especially in promoting renewable energies.
