The Avenues-Bahrain Partners with Yellow Door Energy for Innovative Solar Carport Project

The Avenues-Bahrain, Bahrain’s premier seafront shopping and entertainment destination, has unveiled plans for a groundbreaking sustainable energy initiative in collaboration with Yellow Door Energy. This transformative project involves the development of a 3.5 MWp solar carport system, featuring cutting-edge bifacial solar panels across the outdoor parking facility. Scheduled for completion in Q4 2024, the initiative underscores The Avenues-Bahrain’s commitment to environmental stewardship and sustainability.

Construction on the innovative solar carport project at The Avenues-Bahrain is set to commence shortly, with the installation of over 6,000 bifacial solar panels expected to provide shading for 1,025 parking spots, covering an area of 23,500 square meters. Anticipated to produce over 5.8 million kilowatt-hours of clean energy annually upon completion, the project will significantly reduce carbon emissions by 4,000 metric tons, further solidifying the complex’s position as a leader in sustainability.

Mr. Firas Barakat, Mall Director at The Avenues Bahrain, expressed his enthusiasm for the partnership with Yellow Door Energy, highlighting the project’s alignment with the complex’s commitment to environmental responsibility and sustainable development. The initiative signifies a significant step towards a greener and more sustainable future for Bahrain.

Mr. Hani Majzoub, SVP of Commercial Development at Yellow Door Energy, echoed the excitement for the project, emphasizing the company’s dedication to empowering organizations to reduce energy costs and lower greenhouse gas emissions. This collaboration marks Yellow Door Energy’s sixth signed solar project in Bahrain, contributing to a portfolio exceeding 30 MWp of awarded solar projects.

Aligned with the Kingdom of Bahrain’s Vision 2030 to reduce carbon emissions and promote sustainable energy sourcing, The Avenues-Bahrain’s initiative represents a pioneering effort in advancing environmental sustainability within the region. Since 2018, the complex has demonstrated its commitment to solar energy with a rooftop grid connected to a Solar Photovoltaics (PV) system, generating 250 KWp at peak and reducing carbon footprint by 300 metric tons annually.

The partnership between The Avenues-Bahrain and Yellow Door Energy marks a significant milestone in Bahrain’s sustainable energy journey.
