
During the World Economic Forum (WEF) special meeting in Riyadh, under the theme “Global Collaboration, Growth, and Energy for Development,” Dr. Rania Al-Mashat, Minister of International Cooperation, engaged in various discussions and events focusing on inclusive growth and sustainable development.
As a board member of the Forum’s Center for New Economy and Society, Dr. Al-Mashat participated in the “Meeting of Human Capital Initiatives: Reskilling Revolution and Jobs Initiative.” Emphasizing the importance of investing in human capital, she highlighted the need for workforce reskilling to align with evolving technologies and artificial intelligence.
In a session on gender equality, Dr. Al-Mashat underscored the vital role of women in economic recovery and development efforts globally. Despite progress, she acknowledged the persistent challenges women face in job participation and skill access.
Dr. Al-Mashat discussed innovative strategies for strengthening regional partnerships in clean energy transition. Emphasizing the importance of equitable financing mechanisms, she stressed the need to support developing and emerging countries’ access to renewable energy.
As co-chair of the WEF’s Network for Investment Mobilization for Clean Energy in the Global South, Dr. Al-Mashat highlighted the obligation of developed countries to support climate investments in developing nations. She called for increased climate finance flows to address the disparities in climate action capabilities.
In media interviews, Dr. Al-Mashat addressed geopolitical developments impacting Suez Canal revenues and Egypt’s economic measures to enhance stability and attract foreign investments. She emphasized macroeconomic stability, structural reforms, and social protection as pillars of Egypt’s economic reform program.
