In a significant step towards renewable energy expansion, Rizal Green Energy Corporation (RGEC) celebrated the installation of the first solar panel array for its 27MW Dagohoy Solar Power Project (DSPP) in Bohol.
The ceremony, attended by key stakeholders including Bohol Governor Aris Aumentado and Dagohoy Mayor Hermie Relampagos, showcased the commencement of the solar project’s development. RGEC President Francisco G. Delfin, Jr., emphasized the project’s importance in addressing power shortages and climate concerns in the region.
Delfin highlighted the significance of DSPP in providing additional power from renewable sources, stating that it aligns with efforts to ensure electricity supply and mitigate climate variability. The project aims to make DSPP the first utility-scale solar power facility in Bohol, contributing to the province’s economic growth and environmental sustainability.
The event also witnessed the launch of RGEC’s We Power H.E.L.P. Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) Program, focusing on initiatives such as teacher training, scholarship grants, and livelihood projects in DSPP’s host communities.
The installation ceremony was attended by officials from TAISEI Corporation, the National Grid Corporation of the Philippines (NGCP), S.N. Aboitiz Power (SNAP), as well as representatives from government agencies and local leaders.
Expressing enthusiasm for the project, Governor Aris Aumentado emphasized its role in driving economic prosperity and promoting renewable energy adoption in Bohol. He encouraged further investment in renewable energy projects in the province, highlighting its positive impact on the community.
Dagohoy Mayor Hermie Relampagos echoed Aumentado’s sentiments, expressing optimism about the project’s potential to enhance the lives of Dagohoy residents and stimulate economic growth in the municipality.
The DSPP project, a collaboration between RGEC and TAISEI Corporation, signifies a significant milestone in Bohol’s renewable energy journey, contributing to the province’s sustainable development goals.
