Ende Guaracachi, a subsidiary of Bolivia’s state energy company Ende Corporaciรณn, has announced a tender for the development of the 20 MW Viru Viru solar project. This new solar plant will be located in the department of Santa Cruz and is expected to require an investment of approximately $24 million. Operations are slated to begin in 2025.
In addition to the Viru Viru project, Ende Guaracachi is advancing the expansion of the existing Uyuni photovoltaic solar plant. This expansion will increase the plant’s capacity from its current 60 MW by an additional 2.5 MW.
Last January, Ende Guaracachi revealed plans to construct the 40 MW Contorno Bajo solar plant. Situated 3,905 meters above sea level in the department of La Paz, this new facility will also feature battery storage capabilities, enhancing its operational efficiency and reliability.
