This week marked the official start of construction for a 76-megawatt photovoltaic power plant in the municipality of Amerdingen, located in the Swabian district of Donau-Ries.

The solar park, developed by Princess Camilla of Sayn-Wittgenstein-Berleburg, who also owns the land, is being constructed by the Bavarian EPC company Maxsolar. The groundbreaking ceremony was attended by the townโ€™s first mayor, Xaver Berchtenbreiter.

Maxsolar aims to connect the photovoltaic power plant to the grid by the end of 2025. To facilitate this, a new substation will be constructed in Holheim starting next April, ensuring the reliable integration of solar power into the public grid.

This project is expected to play a significant role in meeting regional energy demands with renewable sources. The solar power generated by the plant could theoretically supply over 21,500 households with clean electricity annually.
