India’s Renewable Energy Sector Sees 23.7% Job Growth in FY24: Study

On World Environment Day, TeamLease Services unveiled a significant surge in employment within India’s renewable energy sector. According to their latest report, job opportunities in this sector saw an impressive 23.7% growth in FY24, a substantial rise from the 8.5% growth recorded in FY23. This uptick underscores the sector’s expanding role in India’s employment landscape.

Notably, the job demand is increasing in tier II and III cities, key hubs for renewable energy initiatives. The report highlights the rising need for roles such as solar PV and wind turbine technicians, installers, roofers, production operators, storage operators, and waste management specialists.

Subburathinam P., CSO Staffing at TeamLease Services, remarked on the positive trend, emphasizing the sector’s contribution to building a resilient workforce. He noted a decline in attrition rates, which fell to 33.5% in FY24 from 38.8% in FY23, indicating improved job satisfaction and stability.

Kartik Narayan, CEO of Staffing at TeamLease Services, reflected on the industry’s evolution, pointing to the correlation between job growth and reduced attrition. He highlighted the sector’s role in creating a conducive environment for talent to flourish, contributing to a sustainable future.

The report also provides insights into the educational qualifications of the renewable energy workforce. It reveals that 22.9% of employees have completed their secondary education, 73% hold ITI diplomas or graduation degrees, and 4.1% possess postgraduate degrees. This educational diversity illustrates the sector’s inclusive hiring practices.

TeamLease Services’ analysis showcases the renewable energy sector not only as a growing job market but also as a field fostering a committed and stable workforce dedicated to sustainable energy solutions.
