Infinity Power, Africa’s largest renewable energy developer, Hassan Allam Utilities, a sustainable infrastructure-focused development and investment platform, and Masdar, the UAEโ€™s leading renewable energy company, have signed a Land Access Agreement with the Egyptian Government for their 10GW onshore wind farm. This project, set to be one of the largest in the world, has a project value exceeding US$10 billion.

The agreement grants the consortium access to a 3025 kmยฒ area of land in West Suhag, allowing them to conduct essential development studies. These studies include resource measurement campaigns, geotechnical and topographic surveys, and environmental assessments to ensure minimal impact on the environment.

These studies mark a significant step forward in the projectโ€™s development. The findings will be crucial in advancing towards the construction phase. Once construction begins, the wind farm will offer substantial benefits to local communities, including job creation, community support initiatives, and environmental protection measures.

The landmark wind project is expected to produce 47,790 GWh of clean energy annually, reducing Egyptโ€™s carbon emissions by approximately 9 percent by displacing 23.8 million tonnes of CO2 each year. Additionally, the wind farm will support Egyptโ€™s goal of sourcing 42 percent of its energy from renewables by 2030, saving the country an estimated US$5 billion annually in natural gas costs.
