Hydrom, Oman’s state-owned entity overseeing green hydrogen development, convened a readiness workshop in Muscat to assess the nation’s preparedness for achieving ambitious green hydrogen production targets. Chaired by Salem Nasser Al-Awfi, Minister of Energy and Minerals and Chairman of Hydrom, the workshop brought together government officials and key stakeholders to present strategic plans, address challenges, and formulate action plans toward meeting the 2030 production goals and Vision 2040 objectives.

Currently, Hydrom has allocated 8 plots of land covering over 2,300 square kilometers out of a potential 50,000 square kilometers earmarked for green hydrogen production. These plots have attracted investment commitments exceeding $49 billion from energy consortia comprising companies from Asia, Europe, Australia, and the Middle East.

Abdul Aziz Al Shethani, General Manager of Hydrom, emphasized their commitment to enhancing the hydrogen value chain to stimulate employment, economic growth, and institutional capacity across Oman. He highlighted Hydrom’s rapid progress since its establishment in October 2022 and reaffirmed their ongoing momentum in advancing operations. The workshop underscored industry leaders’ shared dedication to delivering affordable, safe, and sustainable energy solutions to foster a prosperous Omani economy.
