talabat, the foremost everyday delivery app in the region, has launched its annual Summer Together rider initiatives in partnership with Emarat to extend solar-powered rest areas at gas stations across the UAE. This effort expands on last year’s introduction of the region’s initial solar-powered rest spots, developed in collaboration with the Joint Committee of Traffic Safety and the Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation (MoHRE). The initiative aims to offer delivery riders convenient rest locations where they can unwind, hydrate, and recharge between deliveries amid the summer heat.
These self-sustaining smart boxes operate round the clock, powered by rechargeable batteries that eliminate fuel consumption and reduce CO2 emissions. They offer delivery riders quiet, air-conditioned seating areas at gas stations nationwide, complete with water dispensers, mobile charging stations, and an integrated air pump for checking tire pressure under shaded structures.
Through its partnership with Emarat, talabat has deployed these rest areas at key locations including Abu Kadra and Nad Al Hammar in Dubai, Al Sunbulah and Al Qaryah in Sharjah, Khuzam in Ras Al Khaimah, Al Jurf in Ajman, and Al Qurm station in Fujairah.
In Abu Dhabi, talabat has expanded these sustainable rest areas in collaboration with Abu Dhabi Mobility (AD Mobility) under the auspices of The Joint Committee for Traffic Safety, focusing on key rider locations in Khalifa City and Shakhbout City following the success of the initiative’s launch last summer.

His Excellency Mohsin Al Nassi, Assistant Undersecretary for Inspection Affairs at MoHRE, highlighted the ministry’s proactive measures, including the allocation of 6,000 rest stations for delivery workers during the 2024 Midday Break, demonstrating their commitment to worker health, safety, and well-being.
