Midsummer Expands Into Thailand With Flexible Solar Solutions, Strengthening Southeast Asia Presence

Swedish solar technology company Midsummer has expanded its operations into Thailand, marking an important step in bringing advanced renewable energy solutions to the Southeast Asian region. As part of this expansion, the company has opened a new regional office in Bangkok to strengthen its presence and respond to the growing demand for clean energy in the country.

The company is known for its innovative solar technology, especially its lightweight and flexible solar panels. Unlike traditional solar panels that are made with heavy glass, Midsummer’s thin-film panels are designed to be much lighter and more adaptable. These panels can be installed on surfaces that may not be able to support conventional systems, making them suitable for a wide range of buildings and infrastructure projects. This flexibility makes the technology particularly useful in urban environments and older structures where weight limitations are a concern.

Midsummer has already started its operations in Thailand and has successfully installed its flexible solar panels at two facilities. This early progress shows that there is interest in such advanced solar solutions in the local market. The company has also indicated that several additional projects are currently under development, which suggests that adoption of this technology is expected to grow in the near future.

The expansion has also received support from Swedish officials. Per Linnér, Sweden’s Deputy Head of Mission, recently met with company representatives to discuss ongoing activities and explore future opportunities for collaboration. This engagement reflects the strengthening relationship between Sweden and Thailand, especially in areas related to green growth and environmental technologies.

The Embassy of Sweden in Bangkok has highlighted that Midsummer’s entry into Thailand is an example of how Swedish innovation can support the country’s transition toward sustainable energy. The company’s activities are also expected to be discussed in upcoming sustainability events organized in collaboration with the Royal Thai Embassy in Stockholm, which focus on promoting international cooperation in clean energy.

Thailand is actively working toward reducing carbon emissions and improving energy efficiency. In this context, Midsummer’s flexible solar technology offers a practical option for businesses and infrastructure developers looking to adopt renewable energy. With its new office in Bangkok, the company is now better positioned to support local projects and contribute to the country’s clean energy goals.
