SCG Cleanergy Collaborates With Seagate Thailand to Sign a Contract for Purchasing Solar Rooftop Power

SCG Cleanergy Company Limited and Seagate Technology (Thailand) Company Limited have signed a significant contract to purchase electricity from clean energy. This agreement involves the installation of a 20.96 megawatt solar rooftop system at Seagate’s factory in Nakhon Ratchasima Province. This project marks the largest solar initiative since SCG Cleanergy began operations, highlighting a commitment to sustainable energy and the movement towards a low-carbon society.

Under the terms of the contract, SCG Cleanergy will handle the investment, project management, and operation of the rooftop solar power system, which will generate up to 20.96 megawatts of clean electricity. This will enable Seagate to produce its own sustainable solar power, reducing its reliance on fossil fuels and lowering greenhouse gas emissions.

Both companies are dedicated to supporting a sustainable future for Thailand and the world. By utilizing solar energy, they aim to mitigate the impact of climate change and advance the transition to a society that relies on sustainable energy sources.

Mr. Atthapong Sathitmanotham, CEO of SCG Cleanergy Co., Ltd., expressed, “SCG Cleanergy aims to drive Thailand and the region towards a low-carbon and Net Zero society by supporting the business sector in transitioning to clean energy and reducing carbon dioxide emissions. We are very pleased to collaborate with Seagate Thailand on this significant clean energy project. The signing of today’s agreement is a milestone for SCG Cleanergy as it represents our largest rooftop solar power generation system installation to date.”

Mr. Narachet Sae Tang, Country Manager and Vice President of Operations at Seagate Technology Thailand Limited, stated, “As a leading innovator in mass storage worldwide, Seagate is committed to reducing our environmental impact and promoting sustainable data management. We are taking decisive action to achieve our goal of converting all of Seagate’s operations, including our plants in Nakhon Ratchasima and Theparak, Samut Prakan, to 100% renewable energy. This agreement is a crucial step in reaching our target of carbon neutrality by 2040.”
