The Akuo Group is launching a crowdfunding campaign to support a group of solar power plants in the Thessaly region of Greece. This is the first project featured on their new “AkuoCoop by Lendosphere” platform, created in partnership with crowdfunding experts Lendosphere. The campaign aims to raise an initial amount of โฌ1 million and is open to everyone. This fundraising campaign invites European citizens to help refinance the Thessaly solar farm in Greece, managed by Akuo. Covering 8 hectares (20 acres), the farm includes four solar power plants (Tsairia, Zappeio 1024, Zappeio 1008, and Foniades) with a total output of 4 MWp. This is a chance for individuals to support the European energy transition. One can contribute online starting from โฌ100, after registering on the Akuocoop by Lendosphere platform.
The four solar power plants are located near the town of Larissa in Greeceโs Thessaly region. Collectively, they produce 4 MW of power, generating 6.3 GWh annually, enough to power 570 households and prevent the emission of 2,100 metric tons of CO2 annually. These plants started operating in 2023 and are now fully functional.
The Thessaly solar farm is the first step in a large-scale project being developed by Akuo in partnership with the Thessaly Region. This project aims to build facilities with a total output of 500 MW. Akuo is actively supporting the Greek governmentโs National Energy and Climate Plan (NECP), which aims to increase the share of renewables in the countryโs energy mix to over 80% by 2030.
