Union Minister for New and Renewable Energy Pralhad Joshi has concluded his official visit to Abu Dhabi, marked by high-level engagements aimed at deepening international cooperation and mobilising investment for India’s rapidly expanding renewable energy sector.
During the visit, the Minister participated in the 16th Assembly of the International Renewable Energy Agency (IRENA) and held multiple discussions with global stakeholders to advance collaboration across clean energy value chains.
A key highlight of the visit was a Renewable Energy Investment Roundtable chaired by the Minister, bringing together UAE-based and international financial institutions, investors and renewable energy developers. The discussions spanned a wide range of clean energy segments, including distributed solar, EPC services, clean energy manufacturing, energy storage, green hydrogen, waste-to-energy and sustainable finance.
Addressing participants, the Minister outlined India’s renewable energy growth trajectory and underscored the scale of opportunities in project development, financing and manufacturing under the Make in India initiative, positioning the country as a leading destination for long-term clean energy investments.
The Minister also took part in Abu Dhabi Sustainability Week, engaging with leaders from government, business, finance and civil society. On the sidelines, he interacted with members of the global clean energy ecosystem, reaffirming India’s commitment to a just, inclusive and scalable energy transition.
As part of his UAE engagements, the Minister met members of the Indian diaspora, including the Kannada community, and acknowledged their efforts to preserve language and culture through initiatives such as Kannada Paathashale, which has previously been highlighted in Mann Ki Baat by the Prime Minister.
The visit also included stops at prominent cultural and spiritual landmarks, including the BAPS Hindu Mandir, the Hindu Temple at Jebel Ali Village, and the Gurunanak Darbar Gurdwara, reflecting the strong people-to-people ties between India and the UAE and shared values of harmony and inclusivity.
Earlier, addressing the plenary session of the IRENA Assembly, the Minister reiterated that India’s energy transition is guided by the principle of Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam—One Earth, One Family, One Future—anchored in equity, inclusivity and long-term policy stability. At an inter-ministerial dialogue on scaling renewable energy in agrifood systems, jointly convened by IRENA and the Food and Agriculture Organization, he highlighted the role of decentralised renewable energy in strengthening climate-resilient agriculture and rural livelihoods.
The visit concluded with interactions with senior global renewable energy leaders, reinforcing India–UAE cooperation in clean energy, sustainable development and infrastructure, and underlining India’s readiness to work with global partners to accelerate the global energy transition through innovation, investment and long-term collaboration.
