JSW, Juniper, Avaada and BN Peak Power Secure Contracts in Maharashtra’s 500 MW Wind-Solar Hybrid Auction

In a recent auction conducted by the Maharashtra State Electricity Distribution Company Limited (MSEDCL), a total capacity of 500 MW was allocated for wind-solar hybrid projects.

The auction results saw JSW Energy securing the highest capacity at 200 MW with a tariff of ₹3.60 per kWh. Both Juniper Green Energy and Avaada Energy were allocated 75 MW each, with Juniper Green Energy matching JSW Energy’s tariff of ₹3.60 per kWh, while Avaada Energy bid slightly higher at ₹3.69 per kWh. Additionally, BN Peak Power (operating as BrightNight) won 76 MW with a notably lower tariff of ₹3.32 per kWh. Interestingly, Avaada Energy had initially bid for the entire 500 MW capacity but secured only 75 MW.

These results underscore the increasing competitiveness in India’s renewable energy sector, as companies vie for strategic positions in hybrid energy projects. The successful bidders will contribute to MSEDCL’s goals of enhancing grid reliability and integrating sustainable energy solutions. As the sector continues to evolve, such auctions will play a crucial role in shaping India’s clean energy future.
