Swiss-based renewable energy investment platform Keppel MET Renewables (KMR) has reinforced its commitment to solar energy by acquiring a 100% stake in two photovoltaic projects in Italy’s Piedmont and Lombardy regions. KMR is an equal joint venture between integrated energy company MET Group and the Infrastructure Division of Singapore-based Keppel Ltd.
The two solar plants, with a total installed capacity of 20 MWp, will produce approximately 30 GWh of electricity per year, sufficient to power over 10,000 Italian households once completed. Developed by Italian clean energy company ReFeel New Energy (RNE), these ready-to-build projects are scheduled to commence commercial operations in 2025.
Luke Gillott, CEO of KMR, stated, โThe closing of this transaction marks a key milestone in our ambition to build a portfolio of state-of-the-art wind and solar projects across the European Union. We are fully committed to playing an active role in Europeโs energy transition.โ
Headquartered in Baar, Switzerland, KMR is a prominent player in the Italian renewable energy market, with an existing portfolio of 277 MWp of early to mid-stage solar projects across Italy expected to become operational in the coming years. The company focuses on acquiring, developing, operating, and managing high-performance utility-scale solar PV and onshore wind renewable energy assets across Europe.
