Fortis Energy Expands Portfolio with Major Solar and Energy Storage Project in Serbia

Fortis Energy has announced the acquisition of a significant 180 MW (AC) solar project with an integrated Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) in Sremska Mitrovica, Serbia. This solar power plant, which will also feature a substantial energy storage system, is set to become one of the largest of its kind in Southeast Europe.

The project includes a planned 36 MW/h BESS, designed to store and manage electrical energy, enhancing the reliability and integration of renewable energy sources into the grid. Construction is slated to commence in 2025.

Fortis Energyโ€™s investment underscores its ongoing commitment to advancing the energy transition. The acquisition enhances Fortis’s already extensive and adaptable renewable energy portfolio across the Balkans and Tรผrkiye, solidifying its position as a key provider of flexibility solutions in the European market.
