Gujarat Urja Vikas Nigam Limited (GUVNL) and Gujarat State Electricity Corporation Limited (GSECL) have announced the signing of a Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) for a transformative solar and battery energy storage project in Kutch. This innovative venture encompasses a 35 MW solar photovoltaic (PV) installation paired with a 57 MWh Battery Energy Storage System (BESS).
The project, a testament to the forward-thinking leadership and commitment to sustainability by GUVNL’s management, particularly under the direction of the Managing Director, aims to set a new benchmark in the renewable energy sector. The solar PV component will feature advanced bifacial modules and real-time solar trackers designed to maximize the Capacity Utilization Factor (CUF). This technological integration is anticipated to enhance efficiency and energy yield.
In addition, the BESS will provide four hours of energy support during periods when solar power generation is not feasible, ensuring a continuous and reliable supply of renewable energy. This dual-faceted approach underscores a significant advancement in energy storage and utilization, contributing substantially to the region’s sustainable energy goals.
The signing of this PPA marks a pivotal moment in Gujarat’s renewable energy landscape, highlighting the region’s dedication to pioneering sustainable solutions and bolstering its clean energy infrastructure.
