Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouli highlighted the significance of Egypt’s newly announced national low-carbon hydrogen strategy during a government announcement on Thursday. This strategy is a key component of Egypt’s broader “Vision 2030” initiative aimed at achieving Sustainable Development Goals and advancing environmental sustainability.

Madbouli emphasized that the strategy is integral to Egypt’s transition towards a low-carbon economy and its commitment to reducing carbon emissions in line with global climate change agreements. The plan is designed to enhance the country’s clean energy portfolio by leveraging its strategic geographic location and natural resources, particularly focusing on solar and wind power for low-carbon hydrogen production.

Cabinet spokesman Mohamed el-Homsani detailed that the strategy aims to capitalize on Egypt’s unique advantages to develop and produce low-carbon hydrogen. It also emphasizes strengthening partnerships with international stakeholders and financial institutions to support research, development, and investment in this crucial sector.

The strategy is expected to invigorate Egypt’s energy sector, attract foreign investments, and create new job opportunities while improving economic efficiency through the optimal use of local resources. It represents a forward-thinking approach, positioning Egypt as a potential global leader in the low-carbon hydrogen economy by integrating global innovations and experiences in hydrogen production and renewable energy.
