BIG, a leading climate technology company, has joined forces with B.Grimm Power to sign a cooperation agreement focused on developing hydrogen fuel for electricity generation. This partnership aims to transition from fossil fuels to green energy, driving a sustainable shift to clean energy and supporting Thailand’s goal of net-zero greenhouse gas emissions by 2050.

Dr. Harald Link, President of B.Grimm Power, highlighted the company’s “GreenLeap โ€“ Global and Green” strategy, which focuses on expanding renewable energy projects both locally and internationally. The strategy, introduced in 2023, aims to provide clean, affordable, and sustainable energy while reducing environmental impact. A key component of this strategy is the exploration of hydrogen-based electricity generation, marking a transformative shift in B.Grimm Powerโ€™s operations towards its vision of “Empowering the World Compassionately.”

The partnership with BIG, known for its innovation in industrial gas and greenhouse gas reduction technology, is a critical element of B.Grimm Powerโ€™s strategy. The collaboration will focus on studying and promoting the use of hydrogen blended with natural gas in electricity generation. This initiative aligns with B.Grimm Powerโ€™s goal of increasing its renewable energy share from 25% to over 50% by 2030 and achieving net-zero carbon emissions by 2050.

Mr. Piyabut Charuphen, Managing Director of BIG, emphasized the companyโ€™s commitment to advancing hydrogen innovations. BIG, along with its parent company Air Products, the worldโ€™s largest green hydrogen producer, is leading efforts to transition Thailandโ€™s energy sector towards cleaner alternatives. Preliminary studies suggest that using hydrogen for electricity generation could reduce carbon dioxide emissions by up to 10,000 tons annually, equivalent to planting 600,000 trees.

This partnership marks a significant step forward for Thailand’s private sector in adopting clean energy technologies. It supports the country’s Power Development Plan (PDP) and offers a viable solution for reducing greenhouse gas emissions across the industrial and transportation sectors, in line with Thailand’s carbon neutrality goals.
