The pressing need for effective waste management is underscored by alarming data. According to recent reports, human activities generate an astonishing 21 to 23 billion tons of municipal solid waste annually, with only a fraction being properly disposed of or recycled. The unchecked waste has led to severe environmental impact, such as the contamination of waterways and soil by toxic substances leaching from landfills and illegal dumping sites.

Maharashtra Enviro Private Limited (MEPL), a government-approved facility for hazardous waste treatment, storage, and disposal with plants in Pune and Nagpur. MEPL is helping to mitigate the damaging effects of waste pollution, ensuring that hazardous materials are handled safely and responsibly, thereby safeguarding the health of both communities and the planet.

Its commitment to sustainability go beyond its main business. They have undertaken the sustainable initiative to power their waste management plant using renewable energy sources. To achieve this goal, they have installed a 1.2MW (876kW rooftop 390kW ground mounted) solar plant at their Ranjangaon facility, comprising both rooftop and ground-mounted units. Notably, their ground-mounted installation, managed by Infisol Energy Pvt Ltd, utilizes a landfill area to create a 390kW solar power station, a unique endeavor. This project has successfully tackled various challenges such as restrictions posed by the landfill, weed control, soil settlement management, and wind protection with innovative solutions.
