As part of the Biden-Harris Administration’s Investing in America agenda, the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) has announced the selection of 12 local governments and tribes to receive more than $31 million through the Communities Sparking Investments in Transformative Energy (C-SITE) program. This initiative, under the DOE’s Local Government Energy Program, aims to support high-impact clean energy projects in disadvantaged and energy transition communities across the nation.

“These grants will help reduce energy costs, create jobs, and increase resilience in communities that have been historically left behind,” said U.S. Secretary of Energy Jennifer M. Granholm.

Selected projects include energy efficiency upgrades, microgrid development, and renewable energy installations. Communities like Chattanooga, TN, and Hennepin County, MN, will use these funds to enhance sustainability efforts, improve public infrastructure, and foster local workforce development. In addition to grant funding, recipients will receive technical assistance, including DOE-sponsored Community Energy Fellows to help ensure project success.
