Oman PWP Plans Musandam Renewable Energy Study

Oman’s Nama Power and Water Procurement Company (PWP) has issued an RFP for a techno-economic feasibility study to assess renewable energy opportunities in the Musandam Governorate. The study will evaluate solar PV, wind power, hybrid renewable systems, BESS and other suitable technologies to determine their technical feasibility and economic viability. The initiative is intended to identify practical clean energy options that can support Musandam’s future electricity requirements while strengthening long-term energy security. Proposals are due by September 24, 2026, with the tender issued under reference OPWP/2026/035.

Kuwait Fund Backs 11 MW Solar Project with USD 9.6 Million

The Kuwait Fund for Arab Economic Development has signed a USD 9.6 million loan agreement with El Salvador to finance the approximately 11 MWp San Matías Solar PV Plant. The project, located northwest of San Salvador, is expected to generate around 20–25 GWh of electricity annually. With an estimated total cost of USD 13.95 million, the Kuwait Fund loan will cover about 69% of project costs. The facility is targeted for completion in the first half of 2028, strengthening Kuwait’s international clean energy development cooperation.

ACWA Signs 1.5 GW/6 GWh Saudi BESS Agreements

ACWA Power has signed three Storage Services Agreements with the Saudi Power Procurement Company for the Haden, Muwayh and AlKahfah BESS projects, representing a combined 1.5 GW/6 GWh of storage. Each project will provide 500 MW/2,000 MWh, equivalent to four hours of storage at full output, under 15-year agreements. The systems will store electricity during periods of high renewable generation and discharge it when demand rises, supporting grid reliability and greater solar and wind integration. The agreements represent another major expansion of Saudi Arabia’s utility-scale battery storage infrastructure.

Masdar Starts 35 MW/70 MWh Rochdale BESS

Masdar has started commercial operations at its 35 MW/70 MWh Rochdale battery energy storage system in the UK, marking its second operational BESS project in the country. The facility can provide enough electricity for approximately 35,000 homes per day based on two charging and discharging cycles, while also delivering grid-balancing services by responding rapidly to changes in electricity supply and demand.
