Apraava Energy, a leading integrated energy solutions provider in India, has successfully secured a new interstate transmission project in Rajasthan through the governmentโs Tariff-based Competitive Bidding (TBCB) process. The project entails the construction of approximately 200 kilometers of 400 kV and 765 kV transmission lines, alongside a pooling station with a capacity of 765/400 kV, 4×1500 MVA, and 400/220 kV, 5×500 MVA. This initiative is a key component of the interstate green energy corridor, designed to facilitate the evacuation of 5.5 gigawatts (GW) of renewable power from Rajasthan’s Renewable Energy Zone Phase IV, specifically in the Jaisalmer and Barmer regions.
Mr. Naveen Munjal, Director of Business Development & Commercial at Apraava Energy, emphasized the companyโs commitment to developing a robust low-carbon portfolio, stating, โApraava is dedicated to building a strong low-carbon portfolio, with power transmission being a key focus in achieving this goal. This project will significantly boost the regionโs transmission capacity while supporting Indiaโs renewable energy ambitions. It not only aims to strengthen the power transmission infrastructure but also to create meaningful employment opportunities in the region.โ
The Special Purpose Vehicle (SPV) for the project was recently handed over to Apraava by REC Power Development and Consultancy Ltd. Under the Transmission Service Agreement (TSA), the project will be developed using the BOOT (Build, Own, Operate, and Transfer) model, providing transmission services for a period of 35 years once operational. The project is anticipated to generate over 1,000 direct and indirect jobs during its two-year construction phase and offer substantial employment opportunities during its operational period.
Apraava Energy currently operates two power transmission assets spanning around 494 kilometers, one located in Madhya Pradesh and another that crosses three states: Assam, Nagaland, and Manipur. In 2023, the company secured two additional greenfield interstate transmission projects in Rajasthan, involving approximately 250 kilometers of 400 kV double-circuit transmission lines and a 2,500 MVA pooling substation, which are currently under construction. Earlier this year, Apraava also added another greenfield project in Madhya Pradesh, including around 40 kilometers of 765 kV double-circuit transmission lines and a 3,000 MVA substation.
In addition to its transmission projects, Apraava Energy is a significant player in Rajasthanโs renewable energy sector, operating three wind energy projects with a total capacity of over 250 MW and three solar energy projects totaling 600 MW, which are set to begin construction shortly.
