HE Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, MD & CEO of Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA), welcomed HE Lorenzo Fanara, Italy’s Ambassador to the UAE, during a meeting aimed at enhancing bilateral cooperation in sustainability, clean energy, and innovation. The Italian delegation also included HE Edoardo Napoli, Consul General of Italy in Dubai, and Francesco Ionas Badde, Head of the Economic and Commercial Office.

The meeting highlighted Dubai’s commitment to sustainability and the UAE’s progress in renewable energy projects, such as the Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Solar Park. This solar park, the largest single-site solar project globally, aims to reach 5,000MW capacity by 2030, contributing significantly to Dubai’s goals under the Dubai Clean Energy Strategy 2050 and Dubai Net Zero Carbon Emissions Strategy 2050.

Al Tayer discussed DEWA’s strategic projects to advance green energy, noting Dubai’s efforts to produce 100% of its energy from clean sources by 2050. He welcomed partnerships with Italian companies to foster innovation and expertise exchange in clean energy and sustainability.

Ambassador Fanara expressed Italy’s enthusiasm for deepening its collaboration with DEWA, particularly in renewable energy and water sustainability. He praised DEWA’s role in driving sustainability in the region and emphasized the potential for Italian firms to contribute to Dubai’s green initiatives.

At the upcoming Water, Energy, Technology, and Environment Exhibition (WETEX), 50 Italian companies will showcase innovations in renewable energy, environmental health, water treatment, and more, reinforcing Italy’s commitment to green technologies in the UAE.
