Aptech Africa Installs Solar PV System At Juba Hostel, Supporting Over 100 Students With Sustainable Energy

Aptech Africa Ltd has successfully designed and installed a 10.9kW off-grid solar PV system at the Juba College of Nursing and Midwifery hostel. The new system includes a 15kWh battery bank of 5.04kWh Lithium-Ion batteries, Risen 545W solar panels, a 5KVA Quattro Victron inverter, and a Victron Smart Solar MPPT charge controller. An online monitoring system was also implemented to track system performance in real time.

The solar installation will benefit over 100 students and staff residing at the hostel by providing a stable and independent power source, reducing reliance on the inconsistent grid supply and the hospital’s diesel generator. With access to consistent electricity, students can now study uninterrupted, even during power outages.

This initiative contributes to sustainable development by cutting down on greenhouse gas emissions and reducing operational costs. By harnessing solar energy, the hostel can decrease its carbon footprint and save on fuel expenses for the hospital’s power needs, aligning with global efforts to combat climate change through renewable energy solutions.
