JSW Neo, Avaada, TPREL, And Juniper Green Secure 1,650 MW In MSEDCL Wind-Solar Hybrid Auction

JSW Neo Energy, Avaada Energy, Tata Power Renewable Energy (TPREL), and Juniper Green Energy have won MSEDCL’s auction for a total of 1,650 MW of wind-solar hybrid power. These projects are part of a long-term agreement for grid-connected intrastate projects, with a greenshoe option that could extend the capacity by an additional 1,650 MW.

All four companies submitted bids with a tariff of ₹3.6 per kWh. JSW Neo Energy secured 600 MW, Avaada Energy 500 MW, TPREL 400 MW, and Juniper Green Energy 150 MW. The tender, initially floated in July for 1,150 MW, was later increased to 1,650 MW. The Maharashtra Electricity Regulatory Commission has since approved the tariffs for this capacity.

The tight margins in the bidding process highlight the high level of competition in the renewable energy sector. This is part of an ongoing trend of falling tariffs for wind-solar hybrid projects in India, which is important for driving down the cost of renewable energy and making it a more attractive option. The auction marks another step forward in India’s efforts to expand its renewable energy capacity.
