Ajman Municipality and Cyprus Institute Sign MoU for Sustainability and Clean Energy Cooperation

The Municipality and Planning Department – Ajman (MPDA) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with The Cyprus Institute to enhance cooperation in sustainability and clean energy initiatives.

The MoU was formalized by Eng. Khalid Moeen Al Hosani, Executive Director of the Public Health and Environment Sector at MPDA, and Professor Jean Sciari, Director of The Cyprus Institute, in a ceremony attended by officials from both organizations.

Eng. Al Hosani emphasized that the MoU aligns with the MPDA’s vision and strategic goals, highlighting the mutual commitment to strengthen collaboration. โ€œWe believe in our role to achieve the wise directions of the State and the Emirate of Ajman, particularly in scientific studies and research related to air quality, emissions, clean energy, and carbon neutrality,โ€ he stated.

Professor Jean Sciari echoed these sentiments, noting that both institutions share common objectives in conducting research based on scientific facts and innovation. โ€œOur focus is on addressing the challenges and impacts of climate change and air pollution,โ€ he remarked.

The agreement outlines plans for both parties to engage in joint initiatives and establish projects within the Emirate of Ajman aimed at enhancing air quality and promoting sustainable development. It also includes provisions for exchanging expertise in implementing air quality strategies, organizing workshops, seminars, conferences, and other events to facilitate the sharing of ideas related to air quality and carbon neutrality.

Additionally, the MoU encourages the discussion of opportunities for launching joint research and development projects focused on carbon neutrality and environmental preservation.
