New Community Solar Farms in Maine Deliver Clean Energy, Wildlife Conservation, and Savings for Residents

Aspen Power, a leading distributed generation platform focused on building a clean energy future, recently celebrated the completion of two community solar sites in Corinth and Prospect, Maine. Together, these sites add 8.5 megawatts (MW) of renewable energy capacity, helping to cut greenhouse gas emissions and providing affordable clean energy to local communities. Spanning around 50 acres with over 17,000 ground-mounted solar panels, the systems will generate clean power equivalent to preventing nearly 5,000 tons of CO2 emissions each year—enough to power almost 1,000 homes annually.

These solar farms are part of Maine’s Net Energy Billing program, which allows subscribers to benefit from clean energy and supports the state’s goal of sourcing 80% of its electricity from renewable energy by 2030. Participants in these projects will save on their electric bills, enjoying rates lower than those of local utilities, making renewable energy more accessible and affordable for Maine residents.

The Town of Prospect’s Planning Board was especially supportive of the project, collaborating closely with Aspen Power to ensure local wildlife, from bears to ducks, could still thrive in the area, which is near a scenic pond.
