Aspen Power, a leading distributed generation platform focused on building a clean energy future, recently celebrated the completion of two community solar sites in Corinth and Prospect, Maine. Together, these sites add 8.5 megawatts (MW) of renewable energy capacity, helping to cut greenhouse gas emissions and providing affordable clean energy to local communities. Spanning around 50 acres with over 17,000 ground-mounted solar panels, the systems will generate clean power equivalent to preventing nearly 5,000 tons of CO2 emissions each yearโ€”enough to power almost 1,000 homes annually.

These solar farms are part of Maineโ€™s Net Energy Billing program, which allows subscribers to benefit from clean energy and supports the stateโ€™s goal of sourcing 80% of its electricity from renewable energy by 2030. Participants in these projects will save on their electric bills, enjoying rates lower than those of local utilities, making renewable energy more accessible and affordable for Maine residents.

The Town of Prospect’s Planning Board was especially supportive of the project, collaborating closely with Aspen Power to ensure local wildlife, from bears to ducks, could still thrive in the area, which is near a scenic pond. Similarly, at the Corinth site, pollinator-friendly vegetation was planted to attract bees, butterflies, and other wildlife, enhancing the local ecosystem and promoting sustainable land use. โ€œThese projects are more than just construction milestones for Aspen Powerโ€”theyโ€™re tangible steps toward a cleaner, more sustainable future for Maine,โ€ said Jorge Vargas, CEO of Aspen Power. โ€œWeโ€™re proud to work alongside our dedicated partners who made these projects possible, and weโ€™re grateful to the local landowners whose collaboration helps create new revenue streams while contributing to the stateโ€™s renewable energy goals. It’s an exciting moment for Aspen, for Maine, and for the progress we’re making toward a cleaner, more sustainable world.โ€
