AMEA Power Completes Solar Module Installation of 500-MW Abydos PV Park in Egypt

AMEA Power has announced the completion of solar module installation at its 500-MW Abydos photovoltaic (PV) park located in Kom Ombo, Aswan governorate, Egypt. The company has successfully energized the 220-kV substation that will link the site to the national grid.

The Dubai-based renewable energy developer revealed that one million solar modules have been mounted at the facility. The Abydos park is projected to generate approximately 1,500 GWh of electricity annually, enough to meet the power needs of over 256,000 homes. Additionally, the project is expected to offset around 783,300 tonnes of carbon dioxide emissions.

AMEA Power plans to sell the electricity generated at the park under power purchase agreements with the Egyptian Electricity Transmission Company (EETC). The construction of the PV farm was managed by the Abydos Solar Power Company (ASPC), a wholly owned subsidiary of AMEA Power, which will also own and operate the facility.

Earlier this summer, AMEA Power received governmental approval to connect 2,000 MW of renewable energy capacity to Egypt’s power grid by the summer of 2025, with the Abydos project being a significant part of that initiative.
