A Distinguished Career

Ajmal’s career began in 1984 when he cleared the UPSC examination and joined the Border Security Force (BSF) as an Assistant Commandant. He quickly advanced to the rank of Inspector General and led high-stakes operations along India’s strategic borders with neighboring countries such as Pakistan, Bangladesh, Nepal, Bhutan, and Myanmar. His leadership in these critical areas earned him multiple prestigious awards, including:

• President’s Police Medal for Meritorious Services (2011)
• President’s Police Medal for Distinguished Service (2018)

Ajmal’s most notable achievement came during the abrogation of Articles 370 and 35(A), where he played a key role in the smooth implementation of government policies in Kashmir, ensuring stability in a challenging environment.
