Suniva And Imperial Star Solar Ink Contract To Strengthen U.S. Solar Manufacturing

Suniva, a pioneer and leading U.S. manufacturer of high-efficiency monocrystalline silicon solar cells, has entered into a multi-year strategic sourcing partnership with Imperial Star Solar, a prominent Texas-based producer of American-made solar PV modules. This collaboration aims to strengthen domestic solar manufacturing capabilities, combining Suniva’s expertise in advanced solar cell technology with Imperial Star Solar’s state-of-the-art module production.

As part of the agreement, Imperial Star Solar will integrate Suniva’s U.S.-manufactured solar cells into its domestically produced solar modules, which are set to hit the market in the first half of 2025. These modules will stand out as some of the few crystalline solar products incorporating American-made solar cells. By partnering with Imperial Star and Suniva, U.S. developers can mitigate supply chain risks and optimize project economics by qualifying for the Domestic Content Bonus Investment Tax Credit, applicable to installations of all types, whether roof-mounted, ground-mounted, or paired with storage solutions.

This partnership positions Imperial Star Solar and Suniva to swiftly expand their production of solar cells and modules, addressing the growing demand for crystalline PV modules made in the United States with domestically produced cells. As the sole U.S. manufacturer of solar cells, Suniva enables its partners to deliver crystalline modules that meet the U.S. Treasury’s Domestic Content requirements as outlined in its current guidance, giving them a distinct advantage in the market.
