Solarvest Holdings Berhad and Huawei Technologies (Malaysia) Sdn Bhd (Huawei Malaysia) are teaming up to lead Malaysiaโs push towards a greener future and support the countryโs carbon emission goals. Their collaboration will focus on using renewable energy to create a more sustainable and energy-efficient future. The partnership will incorporate advanced technologies like Smart PV inverters and energy storage solutions to help drive this change in Malaysia’s renewable energy sector.
Solarvest will lead the development of renewable energy projects as the Clean Energy Developer, handling the engineering, procurement, construction, and commissioning (EPCC) of these initiatives. Huawei Malaysia will provide its technology and expertise to help ensure the success of the projects. The partnership will focus on three main areas, starting with the integration of solar smart PV technology into both current and future Solarvest projects. These include Solarvest’s upcoming Corporate Green Power Programme (CGPP), large-scale solar farms (LSS), and the Corporate Renewable Energy Supply Scheme (CRESS).
The partnership also aims to enhance Malaysia’s energy resilience by implementing advanced “solar + battery energy storage systems (BESS)” technology. The third area of collaboration focuses on developing local talent in green energy technologies. Huawei Malaysia will take the lead in providing training on solar PV systems, battery storage, and electric vehicle (EV) charging technologies. This initiative will help build a skilled workforce to support Malaysia’s growing green economy.
Solarvest Executive Director and Group Chief Executive Officer Mr Davis Chong Chun Shiong, said in a statement, โOur collaboration is more than achieving energy goals, it is an investment to the future of Malaysia. Solarvest has been dedicated to supporting Malaysiaโs shift to clean energy, building a skilled green workforce and improving the resiliency of energy infrastructure. By integrating advanced Smart PV and energy storage technologies into Malaysiaโs flagship initiatives like LSS5, CGPP and CRESS, we are enhancing the efficiency and stability in renewable energy projects. Together, we are setting the foundation for a sustainable, carbon neutral Malaysia.โ
Huawei Malaysiaโs Chief Executive Officer, Mr Simon Sun, also stated, โAs of now, Huawei has delivered inverters to Malaysia that will generate about 3.9 billion kilowatt-hours of electricity annually, equivalent to reducing carbon emissions by 1.81 million tonnes of carbon dioxide per year. Through our partnership with Solarvest, we hope to drive further progress, strengthen Malaysiaโs leadership in renewable energy, and support a more sustainable future for the nation.โ
The MoU signing ceremony was held at Huawei Malaysiaโs Customer Solution Innovation Center at The Intermark, attended by Solarvest Managing Director Mr. Lim Chin Siu and Huawei Malaysia CEO Mr. Simon Sun. The MoU was signed by Solarvest Executive Director and Group CEO Mr. Davis Chong Chun Siong, and Huawei Malaysia Digital Power Business Vice President Mr. Chong Chern Peng. This partnership between Solarvest and Huawei Malaysia reflects a joint commitment to advancing renewable energy solutions that contribute to Malaysiaโs sustainable future, driven by expertise, innovation, and a shared dedication to clean energy.
